The Decline of Western Civilization LP

The Decline of Western Civilization LP

Original release LP from 1980. Great movie on the LA punk scene featuring the Germs, Circle Jerks, Black Flag, X, Fear and more. Great soundtrack of gritty LA punk. Love the packaging. We need this movie in our library of media. Now you can get all three of the “Decline of Western Civilizatin” movies. I’ve seen this one and the Metal Years but not the third one which I hear is kind of a downer that is about the LA homeless punk scene.

I bought this a while back because Duane Peters is a guest columnist and because it just looked cool. Been in the wrapper since then sitting on various shelves and tables being displayed. Time to open it up and read it. I love shit like this.

The Suicide Twins ‎– Silver Missiles And Nightingales LP

The Suicide Twins ‎– Silver Missiles And Nightingales

Andy McCoy and Nasty Suicide (then known as Nasty Superstar) teamed up for this acoustic album when aucoustic wasn’t cool not doing well. Later down the years its popularity grew. The album title was supposed to be the title for the Hanoi Rocks album ‘Two steps from the Move”, but was changed last minute to the latter. Fans hail this album as a showcase for the writing talent of McCoy and Nasty’s playing style. Kind of an obscure gem. This is an original press.

Hell Day

Monday was a bad day. Over the weekend i felt great like almost normal. I was looking forward to getting up early Monday and starting my day. I woke up nauseous feeling. I had severe fever symptoms with upper body chills that lasted all through the day and night. I was never able to feel warm. I was achy to the point of never feeling comfort. I stayed in bed most of the day and night. Chemo had reared its after effects again, even weeks after my last treatment. I never would have gone back for a second round had I known this could happen. Come to find out the drugs can stay in your system for 2 months following. I sweated it out sometime in the night and woke up yesterday much better. I was still weak but not chilling or sick feeling. Today I am even better. Pouring down rain this morning. Thunder upsetting the girls. Lots of work to do but it will get done. Meeting with someone today that may be able to make days like Monday easier. I don’t want to do the things that remind me my time could be near. I want to do things that remind me I am me and I’m alive.

Black Flag – Who’s got the 10 1/2 inch? – Live LP

Black Flag – Who’s got the 10 1/2 inch? – Live LP

My favorite live album by far, this was recorded “on a starry night in Portland on August 23rf, 1985.”

This is punk rock in every sense of the word. The music and Henry’s volatile voice rage. The songs are perfectly played with on the spot improvising that are pure punk. Of course, the question, the album title, is the apex of the set during Slip it in and Gimme Gimme Gimme which is another favorite song on here, My War is awesome, Bastard in love, oh hell the whole album kicks ass! I wore this cassette out back in the day. Have it on cd too.

Other great snippets; ” Do you believe in the hereafter? Then you now know what I’m here after.” “Here’s a song about drinking and driving, it’s called ‘drinking and driving'”. All the songs are memorable and smashing awesome. This album is in my top ten of some list. This came with a folded SST records catalog, which I always love to look at.

Black and White – Rainbow Bar and Girls 12″ Single

Black and White – Rainbow Bar and Girls 12″ Single

There are a lot of myths about this record. When it came out it was said that Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Axl Rose and Slash came into a studio with members of the LA gangs the Bloods and Crypts and recorded this song. Others say that it is actually Lizzie Grey of London that wrote and recorded the song and promoted it with those ‘Special’ guests singing. Atlantic supposedly pulled the plug when they found out of the scam Lizzie had pulled. Only the players know the real story. Read the liner note story. The credits list “mystery studio and someone’s garage” as the studios. I always liked to believe the Axl and Vince version of the story but I doubt it’s true but fun to believe.

Dead Boys – Young, Loud and Snotty LP

Dead Boys – Young, Loud and Snotty LP

Classic punk from Stiv and the band. The band manager, Hilly Krystal got Genya Ravan to produce the record to the delight of Stiv though the rest of the band couldn’t understand this. Ended up being a classic punk record.

My favorites are I Need Lunch and Hey little girl.

L7 – Hungry for Stink – Blue Vinyl

L7 – Hungry for Stink – Blue Vinyl

Lone of our favorite records to drink to. Heavy grungy guitars. Play it loud. Fuel my fire and Shirley are my favorites. Shirley, is about Shirley Muldowney the only words being “Cha Cha” herself sampled in answering the question “what’s a beautiful girl like you doing in a place like this? ” with Shirley answering…”Winning” over and over under heavy guitars.

Turbonergo – Scandinavian Leather LP

I don’t know a lot about these guys. A lot of releases. I think we bought this for the song FTW but it could be cause of the cool cover. ‘Ive had that cover image as my Microsoft avatar since the record came out. Lead singer Hank is a freaky lookin dude.

Aerosmith – Rocks LP

Aerosmith – Rocks LP

My favorite Aerosmith record and in my top ten all time great list. Great from first song to last. Perry later said he was high as hell on heroin when he write Back in the Saddle that the riff ‘floated through him’.

As the cover of this copy may indicate, this is an original ’76 pressing of the record. Love the inner sleeve painting of the band.
