Thunderbitch – LP

Thunderbitch – LP

Alabama Shakes front woman Brittany Howard, has an alter ego and her name is Thunderbitch! They play down and dirty Rock and Roll. Fun, dirty, loud like it’s supposed to be. Side one is all winner no filler. The band bio on their website says it better than I ever could; ” Thunderbitch. Rock ‘n’ Roll. The end.”

Cool embossed cover all black.

I ordered this record directly from the band website months cause I always try to do that if they offer it up, I figure it’s cooler somehow or at least possibly cooler coming right from the band. I know most sell through a third party but hey, it’s what I do. About a month went by and finally I got a vinyl looking package. I opened it up to find a Beagle dog calander inside. WTF? The tracking number matched the online order. I contacted them and they said ‘yep that was us, sorry, we’ll get your record right out” with no explanation of WTF?. Of course I saw it as oppurtunity to ‘get’ some swag or something for sending me a fucking dog calander but they didn’t seem to give a shit only to say they would give me a discount on my next order if I reminded them. Lol. Fuckers. Bad third party seller. Thunderbitch, if you ever see this take note.

Hollywood Vampires – LP

Hollywood Vampires – LP

Not a big fan of super groups but this one is a little different than most, in that they actually sound good and original. Though this is mostly a covers record, the covers themselves are done right with just the right amount of homage given yet with a sound purely ‘Vampirish’. Whole lotta love is a great example. Great guitars and vocals give it a fresh yet classic feel. Side two starts with the classic written by Randy California (cool story) of Spirit. Next up is a medley of Five to one/Break on through with Alice and Johnny Depp sounding great on the words and with Robby Krieger as guest. Other standouts are Schools Out/Another brick in the wall, Jeepster and My dead drunk friends. Come and Get It is cool too with Paul’s distinct voice rounding it out. Actually the whole record is good. Look forward to their follow up.   The guest list on this first one reads like a who’s who in rock with Perry Ferrel, Robby Krieger, Brian Johnson, Joe Walsh, Paul McCartney, Slash, Joe Perry,  Dave Grohl, and even has Kip Winger playing bass on a track lol. Cool packaging, double gatefold, 180 gram vinyl.

The bands name comes from the legendary LA drinking club with the same moniker.

Slayer – Repentless

Slayer – Repentless

My awesome Rock and Roll Queen gave me an Amazon gift card on Valentine’s so I could buy me some CDs. I ended up with 8 CDs, one album, and one dvd. The rest to follow tomorrow.

This cd was a no brainer because A) I love me some fuckin’ Slayer, B) I love the very idea of Slayer and all it represents on a Rock and Roll level, and C) I love that new song Repentless. This includes a bonus DVD of them live at the Wacken festival in 2014 and a documentary of the making of the new record. The sleeve unfolds into an upside down cross with crazy images on each square that flow into the next. Both sides make a different one.

Hollywood Vampires

The Hollywood Vampires was a drinking club of celebrities that was formed by Alice Cooper in the 70’s. The hazing to join the club was you had to out drink the other members. There is still a plaque in the upstairs loft portion of the Rainbow Bar and Grill with some of the members listed. John Belushi, Joe Walsh, Bernie Taupin, Marc Bolan, Keith Emerson, Keith Moon, Ringo Starr, and Mickey Dolenz, John Lennon and Harry Nilson were all mainstays.

Alice Cooper was recently jamming with Johnny Depp in a LA studio. Joe Perry was literally down the hall and joined their impromptu jam. They formed The Hollywood Vampires recording many covers of their favorite classic rock songs, many of which were by ex members of the drinking club. They have now recorded original music which should be out soon. Tonight they play the Grammys playing one original and Ace of Spades as a tribute to Lemmy. With there was more Rock on the show but they sure will fill a spot missed on the Grammys for some time.

Pictures straight/Gut crooked

I got all the photos rotated straight (I think). They are straight on my iPad so that’s good enough for me…..even though, my brain doesn’t work like that. If they aren’t right on a pc it will drive me nuts till I figure the glitch out. But, for now I’m happy with it. My gut though has felt better days. Just now, I finally got some relief from a gut that hurts so no sad gut pain story tonight. Tomorrow I’m looking forward to my first ever yoga lesson that will hopefully make my morning pain and stiffness better. I want tomorrow to be a good music day. Blast some shit out of this house both inside and out. I am going to try the ‘all zone’ feature on the new amp which will utilize 13 speakers at once and blast everyone in a 2 block radius some motherfuckin punk rock. I think some US Bombs, some Hunns, some Bad Brains, Slayer, and maybe some Circle Jerks would kick it off good. Sunday I’m gonna take my honey out for a little day trip iPod relaxation and love.

I got work to do

Just checked out the mighty Perfectenschlag on my PC and realized my ipad was on no-rotate when i took all the latest photos for posts so they are sideways. I will have to go in today and rotate each fucking one individually. Oh well. Been pretty rough the last week or so for me. Fucking pain, fucking discomfort, fucking cancer sucks. If one thing isn’t bothering me something else is. Today and yesterday seem ok. Back hurt this morning but is getting better. I want to get back into posting on here daily. It makes me feel good no matter how insignificant it may seem. For me it settles my brain.

I individually rotated each image on my pc and they all looked right. Then I get back on my iPad and they are all sideways.  wtf?

The Decline of Western Civilization LP

The Decline of Western Civilization LP

Original release LP from 1980. Great movie on the LA punk scene featuring the Germs, Circle Jerks, Black Flag, X, Fear and more. Great soundtrack of gritty LA punk. Love the packaging. We need this movie in our library of media. Now you can get all three of the “Decline of Western Civilizatin” movies. I’ve seen this one and the Metal Years but not the third one which I hear is kind of a downer that is about the LA homeless punk scene.

Loud Fast Rules – Magazine

Loud Fast Rules – Magazine

I bought this a while back because Duane Peters is a guest columnist and because it just looked cool. Been in the wrapper since then sitting on various shelves and tables being displayed. Time to open it up and read it. I love shit like this.
