Die Hunns – Long Legs Limited Edition Picture Disc

Die Hunns – Long Legs Limited Edition Picture Disc

This was the first Hunns record to feature Corey Parks on bass and vocals. This is one of my favorite records of all time. The cover of “Time has come today” is great. I’m talking really great. Duane and Corey share the vocals and they are incredible. Her high voice with Duane’s signature growl make it a classic. Two other cover songs, some Hunns classics and a few new tunes make up the rest.

The vinyl version has 3 bonus tracks not on the cd. This picture disc is a limited edition number 148 of 666 made. How Rock and Roll is that? Great heavy slab with great graphics. Those guys at “I used to fuck people like you in prison” records in Germany know quality.

The Hunns – You Rot Me LP

The Hunns – You Rot Me LP

The Hunns, originally, “Duane Peters and the Hunns” formed in 2000 with a rotating band with Peters the only constant. After Duane and Corey Parks met and married in 2002, they released “Long Legs” in 2004 and then You Rot Me in 2006. More on Long Legs later.

We went to see Duane’s other band the US Bombs in Atlanta in May 2006. I got to meet Duane and tell him what a huge fan I was. He had read my reviews on Musicfiler.com and even announced to the crowd that “hey, that cool cat from Musicfilter is here tonight!”. After the show Duane told me The Hunns next album was almost finished and it “was fucking out there man!”. In August I was very excited to recieve an advance copy of the new record from Duane himself. Read my obviously excited review on Musicfilter here. That review pretty much sums up how much I love this record. Great original Rock and Roll. There is no better voice in Rock and Roll than Duane Peters.

This is a limited edition clear vinyl album released on “I used to fuck people like you in prison” records.

Vinyl and Technology

I love to hear a record playing. The enjoyment of pulling a record out of its sleeve, laying the needle down, the full rich sound that follows, the cover itself usually a work of musical art. I also love how I can hear virtually anything I want or can imagine through a Denon X5200 reciever via Internet radio, Bluetooth, Sirius, media server, Pandora or Spotify. I love the technology. It’s endless fun. Love my records too though. Love it all.

3 main areas.

Living room system: Denon reciever, 2 zones. Main zone 2 tower speakers, 2 in ceiling speakers. Zone 2, 5 in ceiling/wall speakers – 2 guest bedroom, 2 house office room, 1 bathroom.  2 outdoor speakers on back deck. 2 vintage round speakers in office/shed. All sets with volume controls. Sony Blu-Ray player with streaming video, old Panasonic laserdisc player, PS3, Amazon Fire tv. Reciever has sirius, Pandora, Spotify, Internet radio, and media server connectivity.

Master bedroom system: Denon receiver, 2 zones. Main zone, bi-wired tower speakers. Zone 2, 6 outdoor speakers. 2 under deck, 2 on side yard, 2 towers in office/shed. All sets with volume controls. Apple TV, Rega turntable, PS3, Olive Musica 500 gb hard drive for music also media server connectivity.

Office/shed system. Denon receiver. Cassette deck. Dvd/cd player media streamer, turntable. 2 tower speakers.

Iggy and The Stooges – Ready to Die LP

Iggy and The Stooges – Ready to Die LP

The Stooges fifth official album released in 2013. This may not be the best Stooges album but it’s a damn good album in general. Call it an Iggy project if you must get past it as a Stooges release. Great songs on this one. “Job” has great lyrics that will make you smile every time you hear it. “Gun” rings true with its words. The title track is awesome. I have many favorites on this one. Gun, Job, Unfreindly world, Ready to Die, DD’s and Beat that guy. More than enough reason to own this great record. Every song is memorable and worthy. Iggy and the Stooges sound great. Perhaps different than Raw Power but certainly different in a good, moving forward way.

Pain sucks

The last 3 nights have been not good for me. Afternoon starts with pain coming on in my back that only seems to increase as the night goes on. My usual dose ain’t cutting it. Late at night I’ve had to double up to get any releif. This morning I feel pretty good. No pain. Mornings have been my favorite for a while now but now more than ever I like the morning. Coffee, a smoke, some internet radio, the dogs, a record, and a fire always feels good.

Today I see the doctor. It’s going to be all about pain management. No more chemo for me. If I can get a handle on this pain I will be good.

Sami Yaffa reached out in response to my tweet to him about the Michael Monroe show in Sellersville PA and said he would hook me up. Feb 16th is the show. Waiting to hear from the venue for front row seats. We’ll see.

Pussy Galore – Dial “M” for Motherfucker LP

Pussy Galore – Dial “M” for Motherfucker LP

Yesterday ended up another crappy day for me. Lots of pain that only increased as the day went on. I layed on the pain pills later in the evening and after a hot shower finally got some relief. Woke up a little sore but better this morning. Hope it’s better today

Pussy Galore was the beginning of the John Spencer Blues Explosion. Spencer and band cranked out punk rock noise like no other. No bass player. Loud. In your face. Some songs are a hard listen and others are brilliant. I like this album the best. Dick Johnson and Understand Me are my favorites on this disc. Punk Rock noise at its finest. Influenced a shit load of bands. Pretty sure this is a re-issue.

Lords of the New Church – S/T LP

Lords of the New Church – S/T LP

Yesterday was not a good day for me. Very sore and tender. Never felt right. Couldn’t eat as I need to. I feel better this morning.

The Lords of the New Church were a punk rock supergroup of sorts with Brian James and Stiv Bators, Dave TRegunna and  Nick Turner. Their production was slicker than earlier punk efforts and the band had some chart success. I always loved the mere idea of the band. The name of course alone and the members themselves were something I liked without even hearing them play. The bonus is once you heard them, they were that more awesome. Great writing, melodic songs and a punk vibe topped it off. My favorites are “Lil’ boys play with dolls” and their ‘hit’, “Method to our Madness”. They recorded three studio albums and one live disc but there are plenty of comps and re-issues out there as well. Great stuff. Great logo, cover and package on this one.

Sometimes a BMF’r needs a little lip gloss

Sometimes a BMF’r needs a little lip gloss

I wasn’t feeling to whippy today when I got back from doing some work today. My best buddy and princess decided I needed some lip gloss and a necklace to make me pretty. Made me feel better anyway. LoL. Then she brought me her stuffed bear for me to snuggle while I rested. Sweet girl

Pain, Life, Death, Living

I know there is shit going on inside of me that I have no control over. That being said and known, I feel like I always did and do. My brain has changed in the way I look at everyday things but I’m still the same guy I was before some asshole told me I have cancer. The pain in my back and stomach remind me daily that I have cancer but if not for that I wouldn’t know/think about it, I wish I wouldn’t think about it and in general I don’t but it’s inevitable that I do. I mostly wonder what is next. Each day seems about the same as far as pain goes so if that doesn’t change I think that’s just how it will be from here on out and if that were the case I can deal with that. I sometimes have to puke these thoughts out to get to the other side. My honey is my root, my girl, my life that keeps me pushing forward mentally. That love is so fucking good and strong. Nothing else like it. Our life together is the best thing this life of mine has known and I am a lucky mother fucker to have that and known, felt and been in. The love of my life. No words can ever describe it but we know it, we feel it, we live it. The best.

Anyway, I don’t feel like I’m gonna die. I feel alive, sharp and my mind is better knowing this fucked up thing is in me. Weird. It takes something like this to open your brain into something that that is a better way of processing and now it’s only for a limited time? Fuck that. I am living. Living till I die. Oh wait, I’m not special. Everyone is doing that except I have a slightly better odds of knowledge of my approximate time left. I’m gonna use it god dammit.
